Its mission is closely connected to art ceramics, as evidence of the craftsmanship and know-how that created the Made in Italy brand and spread it throughout the world.

The Vittoriano Bitossi Foundation is home to the extraordinary collection of ceramics and documents from the Bitossi Archive, opened to the public in 2021. Established in 2008 by the Bitossi family and dedicated to Vittoriano Bitossi – Knight of Labour, entrepreneur, patron of the arts, and cultural advocate – the Foundation is located within the evocative spaces of the historic factory in Montelupo Fiorentino.

The Foundation resides in the very first Bitossi building, commissioned by Guido Bitossi in 1929. The paper archive of the Bitossi Industrial Archive is housed on the upper floor, while the ceramics are displayed within the original manufacturing rooms. Preserved in their authentic condition, these spaces offer a stunning example of industrial archaeology and a vivid narrative of a century of ceramic artistry.

Beyond its mission of preserving, cataloguing, and protecting historical heritage, the Foundation provides research support and consultancy to scholars, researchers, and collectors. It also collaborates on cultural initiatives with public and private institutions worldwide, contributing to exhibitions, conferences, and publications dedicated to the history of ceramics and ceramic design.

The archive and museum opened to the public in 2021, on the occasion of Bitossi’s centennial. The visit experience is the result of a curatorial process that transformed the Industrial Archive – recognized by the Archival Superintendency of Tuscany as a site of significant historical interest – into a museum space. The Archive Museum is part of the Museimpresa network.
